$5000 reward offered for dog shooters.

$5000 reward offered for dog shooters.

Start watching the news! ABC and CNN should be running stories on what we saw yesterday in Beauregard School Middle in St Bernard parish. Our team was asked to respond to the school to check for an owner to see if her dog was ok. (This was an evacuation center that the owners were forced to leave. The dogs were all left on the third floor with plenty of food and water. And all dogs were clearly labeled with owners name and contact info.) Our team found all dogs shot. CNN has been with the team all day and shooting video. One owner was told that her dog had perished. Just got off the phone with a guy from CNN; he told me it was the most horrific scene.

$5000 is being offered right now for any information given directly to me that leads to the conviction of anyone involved. The states attorney has been involved and is currently investigating.

Many people including those that I have talked to at the States Attorney ( remember that there are 50-100 shells casings. Many say ‘tactical’ on the side. I don’t know what that means but it doesn’t sound like something found at a local ammo shop) are looking into all the details.

Sheriff Jack Stevens better get his act in order down there cause although he acts like god in that neighbor, he is not. This is a national tragedy. The story may be on Anderson Cooper.

What you are doing is wonderful. I am sure as more and more people get into the areas that were flooded there will be more and more horrors here. I'm so very sorry for what you are having to go through but, perhaps it will cause the world to wakeup and take notice as to how animals are being treated. Thank you!

I have just started reading. Great blog. This is what the internet is about. Letting the average people be heard by many.

Great work Eric, and everyone else who is down there but isn't able to blog.

Sort of funny how you tell people not to send money, than they do and want to know what you are doing with it. If you send money you are doing it on faith and that is what you need to work with. Instead of bothering Eric about something which he told you not to send in the first place.

Than there are those people who say "you can't leave Eric", ha! Eric has done his share of the work, and most of yours also - so don't tell him what he can or can't do.

Thank you so much for posting an award to find the horrible people who shot these dogs. I just saw the video footage of one of the shelters on CNN and was horrified. And, then I was even more upset when they said that since the time of the taping they had found another site. I wouldn't be surprised if the police officer (Minton I believe) who was taped shooting a dog a few weeks ago is behind this.

Several manufacturers make shotshells marked "tactical."
While generally marketed to law enforcement, they are commonly available to consumers at gun shops and over the Internet.
It would be wrong to make any assumption that only law enforcement personnel used them.
Professionals would be smart enough to gather up their shell casings.
All the people who visited and disturbed the scene before law enforcement investigators arrived made their job much more difficult for them. It should have been secured immediately.

17712. THE WHOLE STORY
by Maggie4, 9/30/05 0:31 ET
I was with the group that found the dogs at the school yesterday. Lots of stuff has gone on. Some of the owners were contacted today. We are trying to get them very involved in what is going on as they are our best bet for a favorable outcome. The second school was not found until about 6pm tonight. We were going to look for more, but I think they will probably not let anyone in any school after this. The people were rescued by neighbors in a boat who allowed them to bring their pets. They then stayed in the school for three days after the storm with their pets. When they were rescued they were told to leave their pets. They put the animal in different rooms in the school and wrote their information on the outside of the door. It is a very small school, about 20 classrooms, only two stairways. We can only guess at what happened after they left. We do have the rabies numbers off the tags of the dogs that were wearing them, and some other proof.

I saw CNN on this horrible story.
Sure those types of gun casings can be used by others...but we do know that St. Bernard's Parish has that jerk Minton on the police force that shot those dogs in front of a Dallas Morning News reporter....too much of a coincidence if you ask me. Let the ass holes burn in hell for killing these poor defenseless dogs. They knew that these dogs were someones pets too...disgusting.

I just answered the phone to hear a sobing woman on the other end of the line .. Carol, John, their son and daughter inlaw were all together when they watched CNN. She could barely speak to me after watching CNN .. carols 14 year old husky/Shep named bullet was most likely one of the four dogs in this family that was shot to death. She adopted this dog from the pound as a puppy and raised it and loved it for 14 years. Bullet was hit by a car when he was a puppy and she just got done paying off the $4000.00 bill from the vet .. then she got tests and medicine for the dogs arthritis ... this family has been trying to get thier dogs back since the day after the storm. They were promised my the police that their animals would be taken care of .. well with the help of people like you and i, we had fostercare already setup for the dogs. This is only one story of one of the dogs in the family .. all 4, were almost certain shot to death in PGT Middle school .. John was in the bedroom and is so distraught that he couldn't talk to me .. his dog was "Angel Girl" the black lab that slept in his bed with him every night and the dog that woke them up and saved their lives when the water started rising .. one of the dogs that was shot to death in cold blood.

Eric, PLEASE,PLEASE don't leave this area. The animals AND the people need heros like you, that are not afraid to speak out. My heart is breaking at hearing these stories, and now I hear that ALL pet rescue is being terminated by outside organizations and private enterprises. Please don't let this happen. There are still too many animals trapped inside homes, that can survive, if you rescue them.

I saw the video and was so very upset. It was truly dispicable to think that ANYONE could do such a horrific thing! If they can do this to an innocent animanl...what are they capable of doing to a human being! I fear that the worse is yet to come as I am sure that we are going to find more of this as some areas are finally opened. How can we as humans have no compassion...especially in a time when people have lost everything...as far as I am concerned...that was the same as executing the family members who were forced to be left behind.

CNN will most likely NOT add a link to what happened on their web site, in a try to cover up for the rest of the world, hiding what is happening in their own back yard, but they really wants to show everyone how bad Denmark is in treating animals:

Headline on cnn.com as of Sep 30

Sigh - but what could one expect...

Those people should be imprisoned. How horrible and as if the hurricane surviver's hadn't suffered enough!
Would the killers have taken the same action had they found small, helpless children? To the pet owners there is no difference.
What they did was just a "convienient" for them.
SHAME ON THEM! ANY ANYONE ELSE WHO TOLERATES THIS CRUEL, INHUMANE BEHAVIOR ANY LONGER!

OMG everyone on this planet has a right to live. If you kill a pet then you are killing a member of someones family. To many people when they have a pet, the animal becomes the same as a child or a friend. Please don't do this to them, they didn't do anything to harm anyone, the only reason that the animals are still there is because their families weren't allowed to take them with them, is because they were told that no animals were not allowed to come, but they would be taken care of.

I wrote to Governor Kathleen Blanco critisizing the overall ill treatment of pets in Louisiana, from abandoning pets, not allowing rescue, dog fighting (I read that many police are participants) to killing them. I wrote that I will not visit Louisiana. Those animal abusers must be caught and proscuted. My guess is that the police did it. No evacuees will even think about taking the time to torture beloved animals. Please everyone write to Governor Blanco and others. I also would like to add $250 to the reward.

What has the world come to. I can't believe my eyes when I see this horror. It breaks my heart to think of the poor animals that are stuff suffering and now to see those dogs killed that were left there with food by their owners. I have 7 dogs and care for 14 cats and I can say I would die myself before I would leave them behind. I know it was a hard choice for those owners and now that their pets have been killed I hope they can someday find peace. If I had the money/space I would take in more, but I am only one person and I have been forced to declare bankruptcy because of Vet bills I put on credit cards and now cannot pay. I paid 10k for a cat that had cancer and every week drove him 70 miles for treatment. He only lived 3 months, but I know those were happy times for him because he had my constant attention. Sometimes it's enough just to know you are loved. Two years later I still cry about him and he will always be missed. :(

CNN has video of convicts in Dixon correctional facility welcoming HK animals into their cells with open arms and hearts. Dallas News has videos of peace officers shooting tail-wagging dogs and unbelievably - running over them with vehicles, now this. What is the world coming to when convicted criminals have more kindness, compassion and moral fiber than those who have sworn to uphold the law. Even if they dont give a darn about those animals, and no regard for the laws, surely they could have a modicom of compassion for the owners. I am in shock that this could happen in any civilized country and thoroughly ashamed that it happened in this one.

Perhaps St Bernard Parish should change its name. The St Bernard dog is an international symbol of rescue, symbollic of hope and mercy. The actions of its officials are about as contrary to the St Bernard legacy as one can get.

Go to cnn.com/video

Click on any video.

Once the video window opens, click on the top right hand tab labelled 'Picks'

Look for "Dogs Kill at Evacuation Center (2:32)"

That's the video you want.

Things like this may explain why animal rescuers are being threatened with arrest by some officers. I'd suggest trying to read the badge number of any officer threatening arrest.

I just heard on CNN that a THIRD building of murdered dogs has been found. I pray that Law Enforcement is serious about getting to the bottom of this. One investigator said that there was evidence that the owners blindfolded the dogs and shot them. But video footage taken before the investigators arrival showed no signs of blindfolds and showed messages written on walls like "Please don't shoot him, I'll be back". Is it possible that the murderers are the investigators?

I haven't been able to think of anything else since I heard of this yesterday so I've spent the day amassing rescue efforts and addresses and tomorrow I'm headed in with supplies and help, like so many others. We all need to help these poor creatures however we can. If you can't go there or send supplies, scour the many blogs where owner's are looking for their pets. Try to find their pet on petfinder.com or any other resource posting rescued animals. There are many people looking for their pets. If each person is able to reunite just one pet with it's owner, what a difference you could make!

I'm a pharmacist who has gotten no response from FEMA, HHS or state agencies after filling out all their forms to volunteer so screw them all. I'm taking things into my own hands to help those who can't help themselves. Thank you Eric for showing me the way.

At 11:22 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Heres hoping Mr Leeson will make his tapes available as evidence. The current video on the previously listed URL has been edited, taking out Sgt Mike's bragging that killing dogs wasn't that hard of a job!

What a rock did they turn over to scrape his slimey, pitiful excuse of an existence from? I have family in LA, but thank god not in St Bernard parish.

At 12:34 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I saw the initial Sgt Minton video and called the Governor's office and every politician and e-mailed all the news stations I could-- the aide to the Governor was crying from the news this was going on-- I too believe some law enforcement is responsible. In the Minto tape they were whistling for the dogs who were running over with tails wagging!!! And then were shot-- when I tried telling local people they could not even bear to hear much less see such an atrocity! We must stay vigilant that prosecution comes from this. Perhaps we could start a Petition to Congress and send to all our politicians. I find faxes and personal calls work very well. Let's get these murderers for the innocents' sake and for the grieving owners.

At 2:48 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I hope that you will be able to find the gutless, heartless people that executed these poor defenseless animals.

Please do not leave it up to the local authorities as from what I have read in the past, they do not really care what happens to their people, much less the animals.

It has been previously documented, as I am sure that you are already aware of, that there are other cases of abuse by this police department that have not been "taken care of".

The quote by Sheriff Stephens to "Let the cards fall where they may", shows what a total disconnect he feels for what happened. Did he show outrage? Did he show disgust? This sounds like a rather cavalier attitude to me.

I know that this region has suffered terribly, but this is another tragedy that the people of St. Bernard did not need to suffer!

Blindfolds on the animals? Why would the owners shoot them? If they cared enough to feed and water them and to leave signs with their names and addresses and pleas on the door not to kill them. To me that sounds as if the owners were afraid to leave them, even though they were forced to, so they pleaded for the lives of the animals on the doors and were afraid that this might happen to them.

To me that shows that they were afraid that the police might come back and kill them. I can't imagine the National Guard or any other military group doing this for fun! First of all, they did not have the time or the heart to do this, they were there to save lives not take them. It sounds to me like revenge killings or a sick mind that had nothing better to do with his time!

Thank you for the efforts to help reunite people with their pets. There are a lot of loving people that worked many, long and hard hours with your group and many others to save these animals. Too many people sacrificed too much to be there and were available to help in just such a case.

In addition, there are a lot of us that could not come down to help out physically but spent hours on the internet networking, helping the best way we could to get information out where it was needed.

Believe me when I say that these people won't let go of this until they see justice! Justice for both the animals and their owners!

God speed Eric. I, we, appreciate what you are doing! If I can be of any help, please let me know.

This poem is written in loving memory of those pets who we lost in St. Bernard's Parish:

Mom, I'm here with Jesus, up above the moon
I surely didn't expect to be here so soon
Heaven really is a beautiful place
It really does have pearly gates

Some of my friends came along with me
God finally saved us from our agony
We waited at the schoolhouse for you to show
But we were shot and killed, Did you know?

Please know how much we love you and wish we could be there
But a mean old sheriff murdered us, He didn't care
I tried to escape the bullets I tried to stop the blood
But because I was chained, my efforts were no good

It was such a painful way to die
And Mom it brought tears to my eyes
Now my pain is over for God has rescued me
And now I'm a doggie angel, I wish you could see

I know your heart is broken by such a cruel and senseless act
But Mom there are no tears in heaven, and that is a fact
I don't feel any pain now, I left that all behind
It is you who is suffering, you always were so kind

I wish that I could comfort you and lick you on the face
And jump into your arms and feel your warm embrace
But we will meet again Mom because God says its so
God is really great, Mom, and I wanted you to know

I know I cannot be replaced, I do have such an adorable face
I'm still quite prissy and I have wings made of lace
I don't mind being an angel, in fact it's kind of neat
But I'd rather be on my blanket sleeping at your feet

God told me I have a purpose. Mom, what does purpose mean?
Is it kind of like being a hero or is it this angel thing?
God says because I gave my life, I made a huge sacrifice
He said my suffering will save lots of pets
The next time our houses and streets get wet.

So Mom I know your grieving and the rest of my family too
But now I'm a guardian angel. I have important work to do.
I'm learning how to spread my wings, who knew that dogs could fly
But heaven is a beautiful place if I have to say goodbye

I'll still be on your shoulder, I'll be watching from above
Can you feel my little paw pressed into your glove
My spirit is still with you, so please do not be sad
You can't be blamed because those men were bad

I know they forced you to leave me
You would have stayed if you could
I know you would have saved my life
You've always been so good

But Mom Jesus is calling now
So I really have to go
I gotta get this wing thing down
I don't want to fly too low

Just remember we are still connected
By our thoughts and hearts of love
And Mom even though I can't come back home
You'll never really be alone

Cause I'm your guardian angel now
It is still my job to be with you
So will you give me a smile Mom
Before this day is through

We will always have our memories
And I have your picture in my room
I'm going to help your tears to stop
And bring a smile out of you gloom

Mom I didn't die for nothing
I know you think I did
But look how many can now be saved
Because I gave my life instead

It's a bitter pill to swallow
Oh but Mom if you could see me fly
I know you have a hole in your heart
Because you didn't get to say goodbye

Please remember me with laughter
And remember me with smiles
Don't remember me with tears
Because it makes me sad to see you cry

And Mom can I ask one favor
To help out the homeless friends I left behind
They still needs homes like yours Mom
I've told them you're just so kind.

He won't be the same as me Mom
But there is love enough for two
God says that you're so special
You could save a life or two

So Mom when you're feeling better
And when your tears begin to dry
If you can help some homeless dog
There would be one less dog to die.

Mom, my life is over now
But your life must go on
And I hope you'll find more joy
Cause I still have friends who need a home.

So Mom I guess this is my purpose
To save all the homeless pets
I guess I really am a hero
If my sacrifice helps save others from death.

I need to know how to email you so that I can discuss private issues. I just read this section. I didn't know this was here and have some info. for your readers for clarification.

On 9/17/05 I photographed the slaughter of Beauregard and immediately began trying to get media attention, make a police report, get the USHS involved etc... I will (and have started ) posting a play by play of the disregard for these animals and the unwillingness of even the HSUS to respond. Not only did CNN, ABC, HSUS ... ignore our pleas for mercy and justice but when I tried to make a police report on 9/18/05 I realized that I was in danger. I have shared this story and the unedited pictures (which may take awhile to download) on one of our sites at www.howdyneighbor.com/JusticeDenied.

I think people often overlook the importance of grooming their pets as a way to contribute to their overall good health. Here are just a few more tips on pet grooming. You must groom your pets whole body including the legs, tail, and underbody if you want to do it right.
You must groom certain pets from the skin outward to truly be effective in taking care of their coat of hair and keeping it healthy. Comb through the unseen healthy hair and remove the shedding hair; this is what most groomers do first before cutting your pet's coat. You must groom some animals all at once while some other animals have so much hair that it is esier to do a little at a time each day. You know your pet is well mannerd when it will sit still and alow you or a professional to perform regular grooming and maintenence without any fuss. If you feel you just don't have the time or desire to do it yourself, its time to call the professionals. Your dog will love you for it, and you'll feel great about it too. Hope this was helpful.

If you are looking for a free tool to attract loads of free links to your blog or website then congratulations I've got the solution for you - and it is FREE!!

My website specialises in web site development company and to drive traffic to my website I was searching around the internet for absolutely ages looking for SEO tools and ffa submission sites to fire my site up the Google search engine - unfortunately these doing work and in fact had the opposite affect plunging my site down the rankings like it had a heavy weight attached!!, then I signed up for this free superb traffic generating tool - I now have loads of hits to my websites/blogs and my site is shooting back up the Google rankings quicker than ever before.

Consequently this saw my affiliate commissions shoot through the roof - meaning lots of extra money coming in for my family - I bought my first Mercedes car on the proceeds of my online campaign.

. Sorry if this information is of no use to you but seeing as you have the anonymous feature enabled I thought I should share this free bit of essential promotional advice with you and would hope you would do the same for me and others who want to boost their online internet income.

I hope the tool will serve you equally as well as it has me - it's free!!

It is indeed a terrible thing to have anything to do with this so called sport..What irks me is that more will be done to find out who is responsible for this than efforts to care for children in this country. We know who and where they are and yet we do nothing...thousands and thousands have no one to turn to for food shelter health care..the basic things that many of you take for granded. Most will see this and just shrug it off..no big deal or say let someone else fight for them. Dogs are dogs..yes..they have rights or should..but what about priorities people. .Wake up is needed to be sure...for all MANKIND. I see some have already turned their backs on the cildren.......how sad and....inhumane.

How can someone be so cruel? I can't believe something like this has happened. Whoever did this should be punished gravely. Just thinking about this tragedy makes me want to take extra care of my dog and keep her safely inside the dog house .
